HONDA INTRODUCES THE NEW HR-V TO THE IRISH MARKET: ELEVATING SUV STANDARDS
Honda HR-V
Honda, this week, launched the new HRV model to the Irish Market offering exceptional hybrid efficiency, class-leading space and an enjoyable driving experience.
The all-new HR-V provides a unique and responsive driving experience, with exceptional efficiency delivered by Honda’s powerful and efficient two-motor e:HEV powertrain. The new model offers class-leading space, comfort and utility, as well as advanced safety and technology features, all within a bold and sleek coupe-inspired form.
The sculpted front bumper features pronounced character lines, complimented by lower trim sections finished in a high-gloss black to ground the car and give the HR-V a purposeful and premium appearance. Headlight units featuring a prominent DRL signature are encased in a dark finish. From the Advance grade onwards, the model also includes Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB) technology.
The rear of the vehicle features a full-width LED lightbar, complimented by a palette of exterior colours that help accentuate the overall vehicle shape. Customers can choose from Sage Green Pearl, Platinum White Pearl, Premium Sunlight White Pearl, Urban Grey Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl, Premium Crystal Red Metallic and Seabed Blue Pearl.
Inside, the lower central dash and centre console have been designed to make access to the wireless charging mat (from Advance Style upwards) easier from both the passenger and driver’s seats. Trimmed in high-gloss piano black from Advance level upwards, the ergonomic centre console ensures ease of use.
In addition, the new Advance Style Plus grade features a glass roof, while greater security and cabin comfort on warmer days is offered by privacy glass as standard on all grades.
The new HR-V is the latest model in Honda’s line-up to wear the e:HEV (hybrid electric vehicle) badge, following the refreshed CR-V and all-new ZRV that launched earlier this year. It expands Honda’s electrified line up as the brand moves further towards its goal of electrifying all of its European mainstream models.
The new HR-V has highly flexible interior space. Key to maximising cabin room is the positioning of the fuel tank in the centre of the chassis beneath the front seats. This enables the model to utilise the exceptionally versatile rear Magic Seats that offer both ‘fold-flat’ or ‘flip-up’ flexibility, depending on the cargo space required.
The HR-V is equipped with Honda’s advanced e:HEV hybrid powertrain as standard, giving the compact SUV the perfect blend of efficiency and performance and offering a unique and responsive driving experience.
The e:HEV powertrain consists of two compact, powerful electric motors that work alongside an Atkinson-cycle 1.5-litre DOHC i-VTEC petrol engine, a lithium-ion battery and a fixed-gear transmission coupled to a power control unit.
The HR-V has a total power output of 96kW (131PS) and 253Nm of torque, with acceleration to 100km/h in 10.6 seconds. It provides an effortless and comfortable journey, whether travelling through urban areas or cruising at high speed on motorways. CO2 emissions start from 122 g/km (WLTP), with fuel economy of 5.4l /100km (WLTP).
The HR-V e:HEV provides some of the most comprehensive advanced safety features and driver aids in its class, including the addition of a Multi View Camera System from Advance Style level upwards. Activated via the central touchscreen, it displays a full 360-degree view of the vehicle’s surroundings with a choice of side or overhead views available.
Utilising a wide angle, high-definition camera enables improved awareness of vehicle surroundings, including recognition of verges without kerbs or roadside markings, whilst the active safety systems reduce their intrusion on everyday driving as part of Honda SENSING safety technologies.
The Traffic Jam Assist function offers steering support from 0 km/h which reduces the burden on the driver when in traffic and heightens its impressive crash protection.
Other Honda SENSING safety features include Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Adaptive Cruise Control, Low Speed Brake System, Lane Keep Assist, Road Departure Mitigation System, Traffic Sign Recognition System, Intelligent Speed Limiter and Front & Rear Collision Mitigation Throttle Control.
The new HR-V offers a highly compelling infotainment package, combining intuitive technology with a range of connectivity services that enhance comfort, convenience, and safety.
The simple-to-use nine-inch touchscreen interface is designed to minimise driver distraction, providing a safer and more ergonomic experience. The display can be configured to suit any usage requirements, incorporating customisable shortcuts to frequently used functions and audio sources.
A suite of in-built apps can be supplemented by smartphone mirroring, enabled by wireless Apple CarPlay (through WiFi or cable) and Android Auto (cable).
The arrival of the HR-V coincides with 25-years since the original Insight established Honda as a world leader in hybrid technology back in 1999. It was the first hybrid model from any manufacturer to be sold in Europe and introduced the brand’s Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) system. This relied mainly on the engine and called upon electric motor assistance and brake energy recuperation to enhance acceleration and reduce fuel consumption.
For a quarter of a century, Honda has continued to develop its hybrid technology, typified by the advanced two-motor e:HEV system now used across the range – from the Jazz, through HR-V, Civic, and ZR-V, to the range-topping CR-V
Prices for the new Honda HRV start at €41,750 and it is available to order from the Honda Dealer Network in Ireland now.
